2009 Fall MeetingThank you to all who attended CoANA's fall meeting in Breckenridge, CO last weekend. A great time was had by all at the Hyatt Main Street Station where speakers James Walker, CRNA, Bernadette Henrichs, CRNA, PhD, Steven Metcalf, MD, and Fareedul Azam, MD lectured regarding a variety of topics including diabetes, obesity, fatigue, hypertension, the pediatric airway and trauma resuscitation.

The annual CoANA business meeting also took place where Jennifer Harenburg took over as CoANA president, Lawrence Shovelton became the president elect and Eileen Logan was inducted as CoANA secretary. (As a note, all elected terms are for 2 years.) Another exciting event at the CoANA business meeting was the presentation of the new CoANA website!

Again, thank you to all who attended. We look forward to another successful spring meeting in 2010.

Renewal now Required for Advanced Practice and Prescriptive Authority

E-mail Print PDF

DORA LogoIn our continuing effort to increase efficiency and reliability of the information we have regarding our licensees and to assure we are able to provide accurate and current information to the public, we are implementing renewal for Advanced Practice and Prescriptive Authorities.  The Division has made this change not only to better manage the data it maintains regarding advanced practice nurses and those with prescriptive authority,  but also to implement  key  aspects of the Nurse Compact.  What this means for Advanced Practice and Prescriptive Authority holders is, that in addition to renewing the Registered Nurse license, all APNs and APNs with prescriptive authority must also register any authority currently held that the nurse wished to maintain during the next renewal period.  There is an additional fee to renew each authority. The cost to renew an authority is $20 per authority.  As you may know, all fees are evaluated each year and set to meet the budgetary needs of the program.
